Taman Negara

Pahang

Spanning across three states – Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu – Taman Negara is Malaysia’s premier National Park.

Ever since its establishment in 1938, Taman Negara has become a popular ecotourism destination, attracting both local and foreign nature lovers and those into adventurous outdoor activities. It’s home to some rare mammals including the Malayan Tiger, Asian elephant, and Malayan gaur, as well as birds such as hornbills, masked finfoots, red junglefowl, and the rare Malayan peacock-pheasant.

Avid mountain climbers would not miss the chance to scale Mount Tahan, the highest mountain in Peninsular Malaysia, located within Taman Negara. At a height of 2,187 metres, it is considered by many climbers as one of the toughest treks in Peninsular Malaysia.

There are many other fun and exciting activities for visitors, such as walking along the Canopy Walkway to enjoy a spectacular view of the lush greenery. This 40-metre high and 530-metre long suspension bridge is the longest in the world.

Not only you can stride between trees high up in the air, you can also zip through Sungai Tembeling’s seven rapids on a boat, take breathtaking photos at Lake Berkoh, and cast your rod at Kuala Perkai, Rincing, Rawa and Lata Said.

You can also visit the Aborigines Village (Kampung Orang Asli) – home to the Batek and Semokberi aborigines – and learn more about their interesting cultures and lifestyles. Filled with magnificent wonders, Taman Negara certainly boasts a wide range of places to explore and activities to enjoy.

In terms of accommodation, there are many choices for visitors, ranging from resort to hostel. The most popular is the Mutiara Taman Negara Resort, which is the only resort in the National Park boundary.
